Excerpt from Free Desiree

Here is what audience members at the May 2010 performance wrote about Amontaine and Free Desiree:

Great performer, storyteller.
Created memorable characters … had real dramatic impact.
Who knew that such a superbly talented writer and actress was right here in Seattle?
Was very believable and very funny.
Such focus and humor and precision – great timing.

Free Desiree is the story of Desiree and Shauna, two sisters and their search for identity in Suburbia in the 1970s. When one of Desiree’s classmates commits suicide, it wakes her up to her own struggles with self-esteem. And when Hollywood comes calling, Shauna, a professional cheerleader, is certain that she’s gotten her big break in her life-long goal to become famous. But is she ready for Hollywood? Is Hollywood ready for Shauna?

Written and performed by Amontaine Aurore and directed by Tikka Sears. Free Desiree will play 2 weekends on March 9, 10, 16 and 17, 8:00 pm at Velocity Dance Center on Seattle’s Capitoll Hill . Stay tuned for updates and a link to purchase tickets.
